Description The action took place near the island of Montecristo between Italy and Sardinia.

An English convoy of four ships escorted by a small squadron of four ships, were sighted on the 27-August by a small Dutch squadron.

The next day the action began, the convoy escaped and one Dutch ship struck her colours to the English defending ships.
