| Description |
The action took place at the island of Banda Neira in Indonesia. While en route from Madras with a force to reinforce Amboina, a small squadron received intelligence that a Dutch force of about 700 troops occupied the island of Banda Neira. A force of sailors, marines and troops was landed on the Dutch held island, attacked and took the fortress and town. When the fortress surrendered 1,500 Dutch troops were taken a much larger number than initially anticipated.
