Description The action took place about 30nm off Ushant.

At daybreak the Arethusa, Artois and Galatea sighted a French frigate the Revolutionnaire and gave chase. 

Artois managed to bring the Revolutionnaire to a single ship action and after a 40 minute action, with the other two British ships closing she struck her colours.

Revolutionnaire lost 8 killed and 5 wounded out of 351 aboard. Artois lost 3 killed and 5 wounded out of 281 aboard.
