Description The action took place 4 miles east south east of Ganjam in the Bay of Bengal at 19º 35'N 85º 25'E.

At 0500hrs HMS St. Fiorenzo while sailing in search of the French ship Psyche sighted three sail to the south.

They were the Psyche with two of her prizes and St. Fiorenzo gave chase. At 1930hrs on the 14th she took possession of the rearmost of the three the Thetis which had been been abandoned by the Psyche. At 2000hrs St. Fiorenzo opened fire on the Psyche and at midnight she struck her colours.

Psyche lost 57 killed and 70 wounded, St. Fiorenzo lost 12 killed and 36 wounded out of 253 aboard.
