Description The action took place 36nm south east of Cape Clear, on the south coast of Ireland.

HMS Dryad sighted and chased the French ship Proserpine. After an hour's chase Proserpine's rigging and sails were damaged allowing Dryad to close up. After about 45 minutes close action Proserpine surrendered.

Proserpine lost 30 killed and 45 wounded. Dryad lost 2 killed and 7 wounded.
