Description The action took place in the Indian Ocean.

Between the Royal Indian Navy Minesweeper Bengal of 650 tons and two Japanese raiders, the Hokoku Maru and the Aikoko Maru.

Bengal was acting as sole escort to the Dutch tanker Ondina when they encountered the two Japanese ships. During action the Hokoku Maru was sunk and the Aikoko Maru driven off.

Despite having been damaged by a torpedo, Bengal survived and escorted the tanker to port.
