Description The action took place about 30 miles north west of Ile de Bas, Brittany.

At daybreak the hired armed brig HMS Telegraph sighted the French privateer-brig Hirondelle about two miles away, which immediately closed with the British ship.

The action began at 0730hrs and at 1100hrs having all her rigging shot away the Hirondelle surrendered.

Hirondelle lost 5 killed and 14 wounded while Telegraph suffered 5 wounded.
