Description The action took place about 480 miles southeast by south (158º) of Bermuda at 25º 22N 61º 27W.

About 1030hrs HMS Thistle sighted and gave chase to the Dutch corvette Havik a large India-built ship loaded with spices bound for New York. At 1700hrs Thistle opened fire and the action began. At 1845hrs Havik tried to escape and a second chase began. At 2030hrs Thistle again closed and a second engagement began until 2145hrs when Havik surrendered.

Havik lost 1 killed and 8 wounded, Thistle lost 1 killed and 7 killed.
